Fourth Outreach International Radio Fair

Bhubaneswar: Fourth edition of the only radio fair of India i.e., Outreach International Radio Fair is to start from 12th February. Philanthropic organization Outreach, organizes this International event every year, on the occasion of World Radio Day. Before the event, in a Press Meet organisers highlighted importance of the event.
Celebrating Radio and World Radio Day and increasing Radio listenership is the main objective of this event. The organizers have plan to sensitize broadcasters on importance of radio in public service. Chief convener of the event Subrat Kumar Pati says, “we are encouraging youngsters to choose radio as career. Radio Fair is a platform for Promotion and Exchange of Culture.” In the event Outreach is providing assistance to Community radio enthusiasts.
Radio listeners and stations from many parts of the world are joining the event. Working Radio Jockeys, Broadcasters and technicians from different stations of India are reaching Bhubaneswar to celebrate the occasion. Legislatures, bureaucrats, radio station owners, stake holders will join the meetings and share their opinion on the development of broadcasting industry. Near about 200 artists will perform music & dance.
International broadcasters like Voice of America, China Radio International, NHK World Radio Japan, Bangladesh Vetaar has increased dignity of the event by joining it. The exhibition has included thousands of old and new radio sets, old and new radio equipments, DRM, auxiliary studio, sand art on World Radio Day theme and Philately on radio. This time the local visitors are taking advantage of radio repairing shop to repair old ones. This is also a time to buy a new radio set for home from the radio shop in the fair. Handmade radio shop and selfie zone will become attraction for visitors. Padmashree Sudarsan Patnaik will build a Sand Sculpture on the venue. Simultaneously, there are meetings, seminars and cultural programs on stage. Audience will enjoy popular radio stars performing radio contents on stage. Selected radio star presenters from different radio channels of India will host the event.
Five persons/organizations will be awarded with Outreach National Radio Award on this occasion, for excellence in broadcasting. Legendary broadcaster Kamal Sharma is to get ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ this year. RJ Devangana from Jeypore city of Rajasthan is getting ‘Popular Radio Presenter of the year’ award. Suresh Agrawal of Kalahandi will be getting the ‘Radio Listener of the Year’ award and SOA FM of Bhubaneswar is getting ‘Community Radio Station of the year’ award. And similarly, Amateur Radio Convention & Conference Samity of West Bengal is getting ‘Best use of radio in Public service’ award.
Importance of the unique event is increasing year by year. Hundreds of radio lovers from Outside Odisha are visiting the fair this year. Organizers expect city ‘Bhubaneswar’ will get a separate identity for this event in coming future.
