Bhubaneswar : On 17th November a special musical night “Pilanka Akhaya” was organized on virtual platform as a tribute to the Legendary Singer, Lyricist & Music Director Late Akshaya Mohanty. In a unique way children paid homage to the Icon of Odia Music on his 19th Death Anniversary. This programme was organized in the Guru Kelucharan Odishi Research Centre and it was live streaming through Facebook page and youTube channel of PECUC.
Eminent Music Director & Singer Sj. Manmath Mishra, Ms. Bandita Das were the guest of the evening. They through lights on the different aspects of the life of the legendary Singer. Among other Ms. Sulata Deo, Advisor W & CD Dept., Govt. of Odisha, Ms. Radhika Shribastav, UNICEF, Mrs. Anuradha Mohanty, Executive Director, PECUC also spoke and paid their homage to the Legendary Singer. Ms. Minakshi Panda, Chairman, PECUC presided over the ceremony. Mr. Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Secretary PECUC announced the name of the winner of the Pilanka Akshaya Samman Award 2021. People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC) is giving this award to a singer below 18 years of age since year 2003 was said by Mr. Mohanty.

Children sang everlasting songs of Akshaya Mohanty like “Mayabini Bana”, Jochhana”, Danei Dasa”, “Shikari Shikari”, “Punyar Naditire”, “Chandramali Hase”, “Lal Tuk Tuk”, “Phurkina udi gala bani”, “A Phaguna tume” etc. The singers were Smaranika Nayak, Akankshya Sahoo, Abhijit Padhi, Darshan Kara, Rudra Madhab Mandal, Tanushree Jena, Ahana Swain, Deeshna Dibyadarshi Sahoo & Snehasis Das. They were assisted in musical instrument by Sarat Pani, M. Simadri & Dipu. Today’s programme was organized by PECUC in joint collaboration with Rotary Club of UNIQUE, Bhubaneswar. Mrs. Ratna Dash, Mr. Jyoti Shankar Mohanty, Mr. Kartik Chandra Das, Ms. Alpana Das etc. of PECUC conducted the programme.
