Eviction on to ensure easy pathway for rain water in Odisha Capital Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, July 20: Continuing its enforcement activities today, the joint squad of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Commissionerate Police removed encroachments and unauthorised construction covering drains in Gada Gopinath Prasad (GGP) Colony over 300 metres length.
TODAY’S MAJOR ACTIVITIES:
While the entire team BMC and BDA was active on the field reporting the grassroots-level realities to the authorities concerned, in a combined approach the team carried out many important works. They include:
• Stone dust spreading on the roads at Damana School Square, approaching the Damana village.
• Near Venkateswar EM School at Jagmohan Nagar excavation work for de-siltation was carried out.
• Construction and debris waste was removed from near Surya Apartment in Ward No. 46.
• Blockage of drain cleaned at Rasulgarh near NH 16 by BDA emforcement squad.
• Free flow of drainage channel at Dhirikuti Basti after cleaning.
• Ward 48 Krushi vihar: Swerege chamber repaired.
• Drain near Ghanashyam Apartment was made free flowing after clearance.
• In ward No, 38 de-siltation done near Damayanti Apartment.
• Side wall of Drainage Channel No. 5 damaged due to heavy rains yesterday.
• Damaged NH is filled by Sand bags near Krishna Tower.
• BMC deploys squad before raining at vulnerable points.
24×7 CONTROL ROOM
The monsoon control room, starting its work on July 14, till this evening up to 7 pm received 255 complaints in seven days. As the day remained almost dry today, 19 complaints were registered (till 7 pm) as compared to yesterday’s 80 as the city experienced 97 mm rainfall in three hours time.
