Electricity supply to be restored at Badadanda in Puri by May 12, remaining areas of Puri by May 15

Puri: Electricity supply would be restored at the Badadanda (Grand Raod) in Puri by May 12 and remaining areas of the district, including Konark, by May 15, informed Information and Public Relations Secretary Sanjay Singh here on Thursday.

He reiterated that full power supply in Bhubaneswar would be achieved by May 12 too.

“Electricity supply has been provided to 86,000 consumers in Bhubaneswar. Cesu officials have a target to restore power supply to 80 per cent consumers by May

10 (Friday) and 100 per cent by May 12,” Singh told a Press conference. Moreover, relief and restoration works are being undertaken on a war-footing in Puri, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and other affected areas, The State Government has decided to rope in ITI students to help in the ongoing electricity restoration works in Bhubaneswar and Puri.

Singh informed that it is practically difficult to oversee electricity supply to individual households and the ITI students would act as a bridge to resolve the grievances of people.

Earlier, the ITI students had done a commendable job in assisting people in the aftermath of the Cyclone Phailin. “We have planned to engage nearly 500 ITI students, mostly from electrical trade, in Bhubaneswar and Puri.
