Dreaded Maoist Dhananjay Gope surrenders before Odisha police

Malkangiri: Dreaded Maoist Dhananjay Gope alias Sudhir surrenders before Odisha police. Gope was chief of Gumma Area Committee of Malkangiri and was carrying a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head .

He surrendered before DIG of police, South Western Range Himansu Lal, in Koraput on Sunday.

Dhananjaya will get monetary assistance and will be rehabilitated under the Surrender and Rehabilitation Police of the State Government, the police said.

A press note, released by police stated that the main reason for which Sudheer left the Ultras’ group is the introduction Gurupriya Setu (Bridge). He realised that development has been affected by the violent approaches of the red rebels in the area.

Another reason for which Dhananjaya decided to quit the banned outfit was the ill-treatment meted out on him by other cadres of the Naxal outfit.
