New Delhi: Dharmendra Pradhan, MoP&NG and SDE led a delegation of representatives from the Ho community to the office of MoHA, Shri Rajnath Singh for requesting the inclusion of Ho as an official language under Article 8 of the Constitution of India. Ho is the primary language spoken by this eponymous Austroasiatic community whose 35 lakh members are spread across tribal tracts of Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The language of an ancient aboriginal people, Ho has developed its own independent ‘Warang Chiti’ script and does not derive from any other languages of India.
The aboriginal tribal communities of India are the oldest inhabitants of this land and have been fighting to uphold their unique identity for centuries. The Narendra Modi government is committed to preserve, nourish and celebrate the inimitable linguistic heritage of India’s native communities like the Ho while taking all possible steps to increase their empowerment through literacy and inclusion. The BJP-led Government of Jharkhand has already included Ho as an official State language and today Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has taken the initiative to set the ball rolling for including Ho as an official national language under the Article 8 of the Constitution of India.
