Bhubaneswar: The 22nd Refining & Petrochemicals Technology Meet is being organised by the Centre for High Technology (a satellite organisation of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas) in association with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., India’s flagship national oil company, during January 13-15, 2018, in the city.
Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, GoI, shall inaugurate the event. Govt. of India has adopted the Look East policy and under the scheme “Purvadaya”, new business opportunities are being explored for a prosperous East for a New India. As the state of Odisha is considered as the gateway of the Eastern India so in line with this, Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan wished to hold “22nd Refining & Petrochemicals Technology Meet (RPTM)” at Bhubaneswar this year.
Prestigious energy performance awards of the Indian oil sector shall also be given away during the meet.
The theme of the meet is ‘Emerging Trends in Downstream Hydrocarbon Sector.’ The meet shall facilitate invaluable exchange of global benchmark practises on technological advancements in the hydrocarbon sector, petrochemicals, electric vehicles and impact on refining business, energy conservation, obtaining bio-oil from biomass, bio-refinery from bamboo feedstock, among others.
Around 900 oil industry professionals from India and abroad are expected to participate in the 3 day Meet, out of which about 100 nos. are foreign delegates from 44 Global Companies. In the meet, leaders of the oil companies and domain experts will be sharing their thoughts on various important aspects of Hydrocarbon Sector.
Leading global consultants/technology providers/catalyst manufacturers like Shell, Honeywell UOP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Haldor Topsoe, Axens, DuPont, KBR, GTC, ICIS, Invista, Bechtel, Fluor Daniel, Linde, Dow, JNC Japan, Petronas, GC Russia, KNT Russia, TCC China, Albemarle, etc. will be participating in the Meet and making technical presentations. For the first time-ever delegates from countries like Russia, Japan, China, Malaysia, UAE, are going to be part of the event among the delegates of around 50 countries, who have confirmed their participation.
The content of this meet shall be enriched with the oral presentation of 69 papers (including 46 from foreign companies) spread over 15 Technical Sessions on emerging Trends in Refining & Petrochemicals, Refining and Beyond, Advances in Refining Technology, Innovations in Refining, Gasification, PVC, Styrene & Derivatives, Olefins, Energy Efficiency Improvement, Advances in Catalyst Management, Biomass Upgradation, 2G Ethanol, Automation etc. Another 79 technical papers will be covered in the Poster Sessions.
12 exhibition stalls are also being put up by reputed vendors/consultants/service providers for showcasing their technology/products/services.
On the sidelines of the event, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India Shri Dharmendra Pradhan will be holding a meeting with the CEOs of various companies participating in the meet for initiation of Skill Development Centres at different technical institutes at Bhubaneswar.
A Report on “Enhancing Refinery Capacity by 2040” will also be released during the meet. Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan shall inaugurate the meet in the presence of Shri K. D. Tripathi, Secretary, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India; His Excellency Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu, Ambassador of Japan; Shri Sandeep Poundrik, Joint Secretary (Refineries), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas; Shri Sanjiv Singh, Chairman, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Shri Brijesh Kumar, Executive Director, Centre for High Technology, Chief Executives of oil companies, Heads of refineries & global/Indian consultancy organisations, technology/service providers, R&D and academic institutes etc.
Centre for High Technology (CHT)
CHT, a satellite organisation of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, was established in 1987 for development of indigenous capabilities to attain technological competence and self-reliance in the hydrocarbon sector.
