Dalmia Cement Bharat’s Mr. Mahendra Singhi, conferred with the ‘Person of the Year’ Award of ICR and FIRST Construction Council

 

Mumbai : Mr. Mahendra Singhi, Managing Director & CEO of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited, a leading Indian cement major and a subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Limited, was conferred the ‘Person of the Year’ Award 2021-22 by INDIAN CEMENT REVIEW and FIRST Construction Council at the 12th Cement Expo on Cementing India’s future by decarbonising the industry. Mr. Anil Agrawal, Additional Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, presented the award to Mr. Singhi at the Cement Expo’s 12th International Exhibition.

Mr. Singhi received the coveted title for his exemplary contribution towards transformational changes in the Indian & global cement sector. He continues to play a significant role in enabling the sector’s transition to a circular economy with his forward-thinking and disruptive business acumen. The Person of the Year Award has been constituted this year itself.

Citation for Mr. Singhi’s nomination for the award quotes – “Mr. Singhi has been a stalwart of the cement industry and his vision and achievements have propelled the industry ahead in its growth. We honour him with the Indian Cement Review Person of the Year Award in recognition of his contribution to the cement sector.”

Mr. Singhi is designated as COP 26 Business Leader by UN COP Presidency. World Bank Group, under Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition, has also designated him as Carbon Pricing Champion.

He is immediate Past President of Cement Manufacturers Association and immediate Past Chairman of National Council for Cement & Building Materials.

Commenting on receiving the title, Mr. Mahendra Singhi, Managing Director & CEO at Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd, said, “I am honoured to receive this award on behalf of people with whom I worked in the last 43 years in various companies who have shaped my clean and sustainable journey and I dedicate this award to them. I am hopeful about the future as we transition towards newer business models that will drive us to remain profitable, ensure value creation and, at the same time, achieve environmental sustainability.”

At the 12th Cement Expo, held in New Delhi, leading players in the cement sector came together to share insights into the developments in the construction industry through seminars, conferences and panel discussions on sustainability and decarbonisation of the industry. The latest innovations and technologies as well as advances in Cement & Concrete design and construction were also deliberated on.
