Dalit body stages Dharana in Jagatsinghpur

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: The National Confederation of Dalit Organistaion its Jagatsinghpur unit staged Dharana and protest meeting in front of SP office here on Friday, demanding action against Naugaon police station IIC and proper investigation of Tentai Dalit girl rape and murder case.
Organization state head Ashok Mallick led the agitation accompanying hundreds of Dalit men and women across Jagatsinghpur district. The protestors claimed that Dalit girl Laxmipriya Das from Tentai village under Naugaon block had been raped by an upper class man from the same village later the alleged man had exhibited few nude photos of the victim in village outskirts, avoiding social stigma the Dalit girl committed suicide three months ago .
Although police registered a case in Naugaon police station but the investigation did not satisfy the deceased kin then they approached National SC/ST commission, responding the complaint commission member Yogendra Paswan visited Tentai village and met deceased girl family, instructed police to expedite the probe but till date police have not taken any action with regard to giving justice to the family, said Organization head Ashok Mallick.
Now we urge police to respond the National SC/ST commission instruction restart the probe at fresh and action against the Naugaon police station IIC who was conducting the case, giving protection to deceased girl family.
Responding the agitation district superintendent of police Prakash R held discussion with agitators and assured their demands would be considered after consulting with senior cops of state police headquarters, getting assurance from SP the agitators called off the stir [Ends]
