Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled Flood Hazard Atlas for Odisha aimed at creating awareness about flood-prone areas in the state. Based on flooding data from 2000-18, it will aid planning and decision-making to tackle flood situations and boost preparedness.
The atlas has been prepared through joint effort of National Remote Sensing Centre, Hyderabad & OSDMA and will enable administration to focus on areas more prone to flooding. About 14 lakh hectares of arable land is damaged by floods every year in Odisha.
