CM Naveen Patnaik said that Odisha has made rapid strides in women empowerment

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday has said that his state has made rapid strides in women empowerment.

Patnaik expressed his happiness that women in his state are at the forefront of progress and added that their excellence in different fields have mesmerised people.

Congratulating 70 lakh members of Mission Shakti on International Women’s Day, the Odisha CM said, “A new era has begun as the women are socio-economically empowered.” Patnaik said the Odisha government has reserved 50 percent seats in Panchayati Raj institutions for women and added their achievement ranging from sports to entrepreneurship has been encouraging.

Odisha Chief Minister said his government has introduced Nutrition Budget to focus on the heath of mother and the child.

Patnaik said his government is committed to work for the uplift of women. He declared that Odisha is the first state in the country to have an exclusive department on Self Help Groups which will be called Mission Shakti department.

The programme was attended by minister Tukuni Sahu, chairperson of State Women’s Commission Minati Behera, Lopamudra Buxipatra, Advisor Sulata Deo, development commissioner, departmental heads and director of Mission Shakti.

During the occasion, the Chief Minister gave away prizes to three ICDS- Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Gajapati. He also presented prizes to successful SHG, Anganwadi worker, SBI, cooperative bank and Odisha Gramya Bank as top bankers.
