CM Naveen Patnaik said Odisha is a leading State in women’s empowerment

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the occasion of the International Women’s Day on Thursday greeted all women of the State and said the aim of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is total empowerment of women. He was addressing a function of the Biju Mahila Janata Dal here.

Patnaik said Odisha is a leading State in women’s empowerment and the BJD is committed towards further empowerment of this important section of the society.

He said legendary leader Biju Patniak had taken many historic steps for ensuring rights and security of women. Bijubabu started a new era for women starting by creating reservation in panchayat seats and Government jobs and implementing the Mahila Commission and the Dowry Prohibition Act.

Patnaik said his Government is trying to strengthen socio-economic empowerment of women through the schemes like Mamata and Mission Shakti.
