Civil society joins MCL in cleanliness drive at Burla

Sambalpur: Carrying forward the message of keeping surroundings clean, civil society today joined Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in organising an awareness programme on ‘Shram Daan’ for cleanliness in Burla market.

While addressing to his officers and staff at company headquarters here, Mr A K Jha, Chairman & Managing Director, said “we pledge to keep our surroundings clean and we have to carry forward the ‘Clean India’ vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister and create awareness amongst all in this regard’’.

Mr J P Singh, Director (Technical/Operations) and Director (Personnel) led officers and staff to Burla market where cleanliness drive was conducted, which was a part of ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Sanitation campaign launched by the President of India.

Local members of various social organizations, shopkeepers and youth enthusiastically joined MCL in the ‘Shram Daan’ drive, wherein main market, bus stand and vegetable markets were cleaned.

MCL also placed 40 dustbins in Burla market to check littering in the bazaar.

The company is conducting similar programmes in the peripheries of its operational areas in Angul, Jharsuguda and Sundergarh district of Odisha.

Recently, MCL was declared 1st for Swachhta activities organised in Coal India Limited, a ‘Maharatna’ company under Ministry of Coal, Government of India.
