Children got chance to speak before Panchayat during Gramsabha

Rayagada: On 26th January 2019 the special Gramsabha organised at Saradhapur, Ghamatiguda GP of Muniguda block and Gadisheskhal, Therubali and Suri GP of Kolnara block. The school children got chance to meet the Panchayat body. They shared their basic requirements like quality education in school, dining hall for MDM, Library room and reading material, in door game & outdoor play material, boundary wall, play ground, drinking water & wash basin, toilet with water facility, regular health check up in school, barrio free road, sufficient teachers before PRI members. After hearing the children concerned GP Sarapanchs assured the children to take care of the children’s requirements told about the steps taken for boundary wall, toilets and drinking water supply by the panchayat. In Ghametguda GP the Sarapanch told that, she will visit the schools to track the dropout children and discussion with parents to back them in to school. Sarapanch of Gadisheskhal GP told that he will write the letter to concern block authorities to provide more teachers as required. It was also decided in Saradhapur and Suri GP that, the children have an interaction with the PRIs in a regular basis.
This process is initiated by Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti-Odisha (BGVS) with support from UNICEF under the Campaign Sabudin Jiba School. There is also a process initiated to prepare Child Friendly GPDP to ensure children’s basic rights like Right to Survive, Right to Development, Right to Participation and Right to protection along with tracking the out of children to enroll in the formal school.
The process is initiated in all 34 GPs of Muniguda and Kolnara block of Rayagada district of Odisha to make all the GPs as Child Friendly GP and all the children in school with quality education.
From BGVS Mr. Ratneswar Sahu, Purandar Banth, Nihar Ranjan Padhi, Sradhanjali Pradhan, Nalini Kar and Gitarani Mishra facilitated the children to speak before Panchayat.
