Central University of Odisha organizes Workshop on Skill Development and Officer Management

Sunabeda: The Central University of Orissa organized a two days workshop on “Skill Development and Officer Management” for its non-teaching employees on 17-18 June 2019 at the conference hall of the Guest house, CUO campus, Sunabeda under the chairmanship of Prof. S.K. Palita, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor I/c., CUO. Prof. Subhransu Shekhar Sarkar, Professor and Head, Dept. of Commerce, Tezpur University and Dr. Biren Das, Registrar, Tezpur University, Assam joined as the resources persons of the workshop. Prof. Asit Kumar Das, Registrar, CUO delivered the welcome address.

Prof. Palita the Vice-Chancellor I/c. of the University expressed the importance of skill development and office management for non-teaching employee of the University in hisd inaugural address. He said “In a changing competitive world, India is emerging as a global leader. For this every institutions of India requires skilled manpower who can take the institution forward. For the growth and development of Central university of Orissa, non-teaching staff as an important stakeholders need to be skilled and efficien for office management”.

Prof. Sarkar highlighted the recent trend on functioning, policy making and funding in the central higher education system. He said “non-teaching employee of the University should have known the trends and accordingly they will act for the development of the University. He delivered three lectures in an interactive mode i.e. Good Governance for Academic Administration, Ranking Process and different parameters for the University and Role of IQAC and its functioning in quality building. He also highlighted self governance including punctuation/discipline, participation, accountability, responsiveness, effectiveness and efficiency, office keeping and dignity of labor in his lectures.

Two times Registrar of the Tezpur University, Dr. Biren Das shared some of the important information of his administrative experience for building the University. He said “non-teaching staff are the backbone of the University. They must be thorough about the rules, regulations, act and other provision to run the University. He also delivered two lectures on Academic Administration, Administrative Leadership in Higher Education and Official Communication. He highlighted methods to be followed for official procedure, requirement of skill, drafting and noting and behavioral skill in his lectures.

Prof. A. K. Das the Registrar of the University emphasized the need of the special training on administration and skill development for the staff of the University in his welcome address. The workshop provided an opportunity to review and develop interpersonal and behavioral skills of the participants to maximize their effectiveness.

Mr. Manas Kumar Das, Asst. Registrar and coordinator proposed the vote of thanks. The workshop was attended by 19 participants including Mr. K. Kosala Rao, Finance Officer I/c.; K.V. Umamaheswar Rao, Joint Registrar; Dr. Phagunath Bhoi, Public Relations officer and all permanent non-teaching staff of the University. All participant are awarded with certificate by the guests.
