Celebration of World Environment Week at MCL

Sambalpur: World Environment Day is the United Nations’ (UN) most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Since it began in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries. World Environment Day is the “people’s day” for doing something to take care of the Earth.

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited celebrates World Environment Week. It was celebrated in line with the UN World Environment Day theme “Beat Air Pollution”.

To demonstrate the Company son going commitment to combating environmental pollution & particularly Air Pollution a week long awareness programme was conducted in Company HQ, Areas & Projects.

Number of activities to spread awareness on environmental issues, particularly Air Pollution among children, employees & their families and in near-by villages, were undertaken starting from 31st May 2019 and culminating on 5th June 2019, the World Environment Day.

6.Seed pens were distributed to all employees of Bharatpur Area to encourage them to raise plants. The seed pen after use if planted will germinate and raise into a seedling.

8. Holding Rallies for spreading awareness.

On 5th June the World Environment Day, started with hoisting of the environment flag, Oath taking, reading of the CIL, Chairman’s Message, plantation & the closing day ceremony.

In the Company HQ the Awareness Rally was flaged off by CVO, MCL, Sri M.Kursheed on 4th June. Sri O.P.Singh, DT(Opr. &P&P), MCL was the chief Guest during the closing day ceremony on 5th June. Sri Neeraj Kalla, GM(Environment & Forest) read out the CIL, Chairman’s Message, in which he advised, that all must exert & commit themselves to bring an attitudinal change in tackling air pollution and implement our best means & effort to mitigate this menace in the areas under their control.
