Religious freedom has been provided to all citizens of India under Articles 25,26,27 and 28 of the Constitution of India. The purpose of this right is to maintain the spirit of secularism in India. The Freedom of Religion Act was passed in the year 1968 in the state of Madhya Pradesh and its rules were made in the year 1969. Due to insufficient provisions of the said Act in the current scenario, the Madhya Pradesh Religious Freedom Bill, 2020 has been approved by the Cabinet for introduction in the Assembly.
