Brahmapur Development Authority organizing second edition of Public Arts in Gopalpuron 14, 15th April 2018

Brahmapur: The Brahmapur Development Authority (BeDA is organizing the second edition of PAGo (Public Arts in Gopalpur) on 14th and 15th of April 2018 after the success of it first edition held in March 2017 at Gopalpur-on-Sea. The Secretary, BeDA Sri. Sambit Kumar Rout quoted saying “PAGo was devised as a unique and first of its kind in Odisha, the festival attained wide reach last year with recognition from the Govt. of Odisha and a wide coverage in print media at the national edition. Gopalpur was also adjudged
as the second best beach destination at India Today Tourism Awards 2017, which prompted BeDA to continue this forward this year.”

This year’s PAGo is themed on maritime of the region, community development and heritage revival, represented through various mediums of Art such as murals, ephemeral beach sand art, installations, community art, performances, workshops and art bazaar. The event would be a confluence of nature, music, sports, art and culture involving general masses to give a unique experience to the tourists.

The works on Murals and other prominent art installations have already started at the venue from 10th April on Gopalpur-on-Sea. A Cyclathon from Berhampur Stadium to Gopalpur main beach spanning 15 Km at 05:30 am on 14th April sponsored by Axis Bank Ltd, Berhampur Cluster. The workshops on Clay modelling and Pottery along with participatory mural paintings shall be open from 02:00 PM on both 14th and 15th of April. Besides these visitors can enjoy the public art exhibits on both days along with a splash
of cultural performances and food courts in the evening. The festival is mainly organized by Brahmapur Development Authority (BeDA) with the help of Project Monitoring Unit [IBI Group India]. The event is also supported by the Department of Tourism and Culture, Odisha Mining Corporation & NAC Gopalpur.

Bakul Foundation, Bhubaneswar is curating the festival with the network of more than 50 artists in Odisha. Detour Odisha and Celebration Live has been awarded the task of online promotion and event management of PAGo. Apart from the Secretary, the Press Meet was also addressed by Engineer Member Debraj Mahapatra, BeDA PMU Unit- Shraddha Kumar & Aravind Viswanathan and Sujit Mahapatra, Bakul Foundation.
