Bhubaneswar: Amid debate over party’s fate after him, BJD suprempo, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik says BJD is not dependent on some or other leaders including him for its survival & growth. Speaking on the 23rd foundation day of BJD, Patnaik said the party is not a mere political party but it is an organisation that works for the destiny of Odisha.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday exhorted his party workers to be loyal to BJD and not to him as it is a party that works for the state.
Patnaik said BJD is not dependent on him nor on any other person and added his party men to remain loyal to the party and go on working for the betterment of the people of Odisha.
The Odisha CM said the party has completed 23 years and it belongs to the family of over four crore brothers and sisters of the state.
Patnaik said the Talisman he has acquired from the 150th year of the anniversary of Gandhiji is that workers of the BJD must selflessly work and serve the people of Odisha. BJD has never hankered for power, Patnaik said and added that it is his sincere desire that his party men must dedicate themselves for the service of the poor and the downtrodden.
The foundation ceremony was attended by minister Ashok Chandra Panda, MP Prasanna Acharya, general secretary Sanjay Das Burma, MLA Debi Prasad Mishra, Anant Narayan Jena, and Susant Rout.
Bhubaneswar district chief Amaresh Jena, Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain, former MP Prasanna Patsani, Arup Mohan Patnaik and others also attended the function.
