Jharsuguda : Bhumi Poojan was held for a Jharsuguda Sports Complex on Sunday. Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera, Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, and Brajrajnagar MLA Kishore Kumar Mohanty, besides Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari were present as guests.
Minister Behera said recently the State Government approved an allocation of Rs 1.5 crore in the first phase of the sports complex whereas the total project cost is around Rs 50 crore.
Minister Das said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has instructed his Ministers to ensure infrastructure facilities in all districts for promotion of sports. He also announced that mini stadiums would be developed soon in Lakhanpur and Laikera as well.
Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari assured all assistance from the Central Government. MLA Mohanty informed that the Brajrajnagar’s Orient Football Ground would be renovated soon.
Among others, district Collector Jyoti Ranjan Pradhan and SP Aswini Mohanty spoke.
The programme was coordinated by District Sports Association general secretary Tapas Ray Chowdhury while DAA working president Bijaya Behera gave vote of thanks.
Notably, a similar ceremony was conducted in 1994 when the then Member of Parliament late Sriballabh Panigrahi had taken an initiative.
