Bhubaneswar: Axis Bank has donated Rs 10 lakh to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the relief and rescue operations carried out by the civic body.
A delegation of the bank comprising Ravi Narayanan, President and Head Branch Banking and Arabinda Sahu, Circle Head Axis Bank, Bhubaneshwar, handed over the cheque to BMC Commissioner Samarth Verma.
The Municipal Commissioner thanked the bank for the gesture. However, he also said that BMC will deposit the donation to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Among others, Chief Financial Officer of BMC Labanya Sabar and Deputy Commissioner Srimanta Mishra were present, among others.
Axis Bank is not only the first bank in the city to come forward and donate towards the civic body’s rebuilding work, but believing in BMC’s philosophy of progress through partnership it has pressed micro ATMs and one mobile ATM van in the city to help people get enough cash following the severe cyclonic storm Fani on May 3. Even on date people are not able to get enough cash as due to lack of telecom network many ATMs were not functioning across the city after the severe cyclonic storm.
