Awareness Rally on Road Safety at Joda by Tata Steel

Joda: A mega road safety awareness rally by students of various schools and employees of Tata Steel marked the closing ceremony of Road Safety Awareness Week by Tata Steel at Joda on Friday.

More than 200 students from various schools along with employees of Tata Steel and contractor employees participated in the awareness rally that stared from Basket Ball Ground, Joda East and concluded at playground near Group Vocational Training Centre, Joda West passing through major roads of Joda.

Mr Rajesh Kumar, Chief Joda, Tata Steel graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with senior officials of Tata Steel and teachers of various schools.

Apart from the rally that saw children and employees carrying placards and banners appealing to the people to follow traffic rules, avoid accidents, wearing helmet while riding motorcycles, avoid jumping signals and over speeding, etc, the employees of the company and trainees of Group Vocational Training Centre, Joda also displayed skits on road safety that was appreciated by one and all.

Urging the students to spread the road safety awareness message among their parents and people of the community, Mr Rajesh Kumar, Chief Joda, Tata Steel said, “Every life is precious. If we can save even one life, we should do it. We are trying to create an awareness towards road safety so that we can save as many lives as possible and children can play a pivotal role in this. Children are the change agents who can bring in a lot of change in the mindset of people regarding traffic rules and safety.”

The event concluded with a road safety pledge by the students, employees and others present on the occasion.

It may be noted here that he Road Safety Week programme was initiated by the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways in 2011 and is conducted during the second week of January every year.
