Puri: Be it any holy occasion, artist Saswat Ranjan Sahoo from Puri never fails to amuse us with his extravagant craftworks. On the pious day of Akshay Tritiya, the creator has prepared matchstick craft of ‘Nanda’.
The model is prepared with 2120 match sticks and is of size 24 inch long and 19 inch wide.
About his creation, Saswat says, “Baisakha Shukla Pakhya Tritiya tithi which is called as Akshaya Tritiya, 21 days from this day is celebrated as Chandan Yatra.
As this year due to the second wave of deadly pandemic, Chandan Yatra is supposed be celebrated as per guidelines due to which the devotees would be deprived of darshan. The devotional sentiments during this sensitive situation made me craft this model of Nanda using matchsticks within four days’ duration.”
