Bhubaneswar: Art Vision is organising the 14th Sangam Festival, a confluence of dance, on the 29th of September at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar.
The festival is conceived as an offering of new and exclusive choreographic compositions in two different dance styles in honour of all the Gurus who have guided and inspired us. Every year two styles of dance come together on the same platform to showcase recent and innovative works. While Odissi is a constant factor, the other classical style varies every year.
This year the new choreography presented by Art Vision repertory group is ‘Refugee’ a dance production which attempts to bridge the gap between the world of artistic expression and the social reality of today world. It is an artist reaction to our times intended to heal the divisions created by hate and greed through a message of peace and harmony conveyed through dance. The script- is by Devdas Chhotray and music by Laxmikanta Palit. Concept and choreography by Ileana Citaristi.
The guest group joining this year is the Sarfojiraje Bhosale Centre, from Mumbai, lead by Sangeet Natak Academy awardee Bharat Natyam dancer, Sandhya Purecha. The group will present ‘Arthashringara’ Dr Purecha’s pioneering effort to break the shackles between Shastra and Sampradaya. As an academician, she is developing an elaborate process of learning the Shastra (theory) and being a performer, she aims at achieving it through Sampradaya (practice). The music is by Manoj Desai and choreography by Sandhya Purecha.
