Annual Konark Festival came to a close in a memorable note with Mythological Tale in Bharat Natyam and Odissi

Konark: Five day long Annual Konark Festival of classical dance performed by celebrated dancers of the country came to a close in a memorable note. In the Open-Air-Auditorium with the famous Sun Temple at the back drop, the artistes of Bharatnatyam and Odissi stirred the Souls of the Audience with their serene and scintillating dance recitals.
Celebrated Bharatnatyam Guru Vaibhav Arekar and troupe from Mumbai entered the stage with Suryastuti a prayer to Sun God. The second recital was ‘Jatiswaram’ offering interpretation of the Bharatnatyam Vocabulary with the strength of an ensemble. The rhythmic, dynamic and lyrical note in the choreography made the audience applaud.
The concluding item of the evening was dance drama ‘Hansadoota’ presented by the artistes of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra the tale of the golden swans being instrumental in establishing everything. Taken from Harivansha Mahapurana, the dance drama glorified the pursuit of art which can lead everything to perfection.
