Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed infrastructure, current capabilities Rourkela Steel Plant

Rourkela: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan took a tour of SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant, India’s first integrated steel plant in the public sector along with Jual Oram and officials of SAIL Steel. Reviewed the present infrastructure, current capabilities and future prospects of the plant.

Minister Pradhan reviewed a presentation on the business, processes and performance of Rourkela Steel Plant. Heartening to know that #RSP has set new benchmarks of performance in all the major areas of production in the 1st Quarter of FY 2019-20.

Minister Pradhan interacted with SAIL’s customers from the Eastern cluster. Sought suggestions from SAIL’s customers on the support required to transform Rourkela into a steel manufacturing hub. He asked officials of RSP will explore options for localisation of consumption of primary steel produced at the plant. This will ensure growth of the downstream steel industry in Rourkela.

“Had a wonderful interaction with my colleagues at the steel plant. Urged them to work hard to make #RSP the number one steel plant in the country. Also, inquired about the social security measures being adopted for their welfare.Got detailed insights of the steel making process and the new technologies being adopted to produce steel in harmony with nature. Glad that Rourkela Steel Plant is adopting environment friendly technologies for the production of green steel,” said Minister Pradhan.

Rourkela Steel Plant located in the heart of mineral rich belt of Odisha can be a leader in steel production in India and can contribute significantly towards achieving the target of producing 300 Million Tonnes of steel.
