Sundargarh won SDC Cup 2020, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik presented the Trophies

Cuttack: Sundargarh brought a glorious winning in both Men’ and Women’s category at SDC 2020 Tribal Football Championship.

Sundargarh Women’s team won the match from Rairangpur in 2-0 goals. Similarly, in an exciting match, the Men’s team kept the scoreboard high as 4-1 and won the finals from Baripada.

On this Occasion Sundargarh Collector, Mr. Nikhil Pavan Kalyan congratulated the captains, team members and the Officials of both the teams from Sundargarh.

He said that Sundargarh is a potential land for sports, Hockey being the international sport rooted here. The District Administration is trying to develop the sports infrastructure beyond hockey and promote various sports such as Football, Cricket, etc. at different levels.

He further said that the level of performance demonstrated by the young players of the district at the SDC Cup is remarkable and will certainly boost the efforts of all the stakeholders.

He also thanked the organizers for putting up such a wonderful game involving the young players from 9 SDC Districts.

The finals of SDC Cup 2020 held today at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. CM Naveen Patnaik graced the occasion as Chief Guest and presented the Trophies to the winning and runners up teams. Former Indian Men’s Football skipper Baichung Bhutia, SDC Advisor Sujeet Kumar, Minister of Sports and Youth Services Tusharkanti Behera and Minister for SC and ST Development Jagannath Saraka also graced the occasion.

As the champions the Sundargarh Men’s and Women’s team received 2 lakh cash prize each, in addition to a couple of prizes in the individual category.

Similarly, Baripada and Rairangpur teams received the runners up prizes in men’s and women’s category respectively.
