Sunabeda residents protest giving of land to Cobra Battalion

Report by Manoj K Dash; Sunabeda: The police and the revenue employees had to face strong protest of the local residents under the leadership of Koraput district RSP president Trilochan Muduli, while measuring land for the Cobra Battalion at Rajput gram panchayat under Semiliguda block. Muduli was detained, however, he was later released after a discussion with SP Dr Deepak Chauhan.

Over 300 people, including Sarapanches and the Panchayat Samiti members, were planning to gherao the police station suspecting Muduli�s arrest. They held a rally from the police station to bus stand with slogans against the Battalion. They threatened to intensify stir if the spot for the battalion is not shifted to other places.

Government has decided to give 256 acres of land near the OUT Farm and the RRTS under the GP to the Battalion. Pottangi MLA Jayaram Pangi is also against the decision.
