Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: The 68th Republic Day was celebrated in all 8 blocks, 2 Municipalities and district headquarters at Jagatsinghpur on Thursday.
State agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy was chief guest at the main function held at Nabakrushna Chudhury stadium here and unfurled the National tricolor and took salute of ceremonial parade. Addressing the celebration Minister Maharahty reiterated history of pre independence period and supreme sacrifice of freedom fighters for obtaining country’s independence in mid-fifties and significance of RD celebration which marks the anniversary of India’s democratic constitution taking force in the year 1950.
Collector Yamini Sarangi, SP J N Pankaj, MPs Kulamani Samal, Bishnu Das and senior officials, cops took part in the celebration. About 29 troupes including students, NCC cadets, and police force were taken part in ceremonial parade, few personalities, students, cultural troupes were felicitated by chief guest for their outstanding contribution to society in the field of art culture, dance, science, literature.
