Pradhan Mantri LPG Panchayat celebrates learning through peer interaction on Ujjwala Diwas i.e. 20th April 2018

Bhubaneswar: April 20, 2018 is going to be celebrated as “Ujjwala Diwas” under the the aegis of “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan” being organized from 14th April – 5th May 2018. Ujjwala Diwas, as a part of the “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan” is being observed on 20th Apr’18 under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) through its PSU Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) with an intention to promote amongst the rural consumers, the safe and sustained use of LPG through peer group interactions on a large scale. The Ujjwala Diwas will also promote the enhanced target of enrolling 8 crore LPG beneficiaries and connections will be provided to eligible beneficiaries on that day, during the LPG Panchayat. 15000 LPG Panchayats on the Ujjwala Diwas are being observed on April 20, 2018 to promote learning through peer group interaction – ‘Kuch Seekhein, Kuch Sikhayein’, where apart from experience sharing, aimed at safe and sustained usage of LPG, to maximize customer enrollment. Safety Literature (Safety Instruction and Insurance cards) will also be distributed during the Panchayat session.

 

The following activities shall be a part of the Ujjwala Diwas celebrations:• LPG Panchayats to sensitise the Ujjwala beneficiaries about safety and utility of LPG, health benefits of using clean fuels. • Distribution of new connections to beneficiaries.• Explain the details of Expanded PMUY categories getting covered.• Collection of KYC forms for expanded categories of Ujjwala.As on date more than 3.5 crore (Pan India) and 23.5 lakhs (in Odisha) LPG connections under PMUY (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana) given to BPL families. Increase in LPG penetration is more than 37% with 200% growth in active customer strength in Odisha till date from June’2014. Women who have experienced the benefits of cooking with LPG can now boost the confidence of other women about adopting this clean, green cooking fuel safely and without any reservations or misconceptions. Sharing of experiences by actual users on how to use LPG safely, as well as spread the message of its multiple benefits, like health, environment and empowerment of women and learning through peer group interaction is thus the main aim of LPG Panchayats. Around 70,000 additional connections under PMUY is planned during 667 LPG Panchayats in Odisha on a single day of Ujjwala Diwas 20th Apr18. Shri Pritish Bharat (Chief General Manager, IndianOil & State Level Coordinator – Oil Industry), conveyed the details of the program in the august presence of Sri Prakash Sahoo, Chief Manager LPG IndianOil , Sri Dharmendra Behura DGM LPG Sales HPCL and Sri Sanjay Sharma, LPG sales BPCL for Odisha and Jharkhand.
