Bhubaneswar: In a bid to oppose the sluggish implementation of Right to Education Act and lopsided development in ensuring healthcare services for the people especially in inaccessible areas in tribal districts of the state, Odisha Shramajeebee Manch and Mahila Shramajeebee Manch, Odisha have come together to launch a campaign to send postcards to the Chief Minister Mr Naveen Patnaik to refuse to school closure and to demand quality healthcare and education for all.
Speaking to the media and civil society in the event organised in Bhubaneswar, Mr Anjan Pradhan, Convener Odisha Shramajeebee Manch said shared that there are major implementation challenges in accessing services under education and health and poor people become the victim of such problems.
While the state government is talking about 5T approach, the doctors in the tribal areas take money from the poor people to provide essential medical services. Similarly, many people have opposed the school closer and have demanded quality education in government schools.
“From the state, a total of 37930 post cards will be sent to the Chief Minister at PMG office today after the sharing their stories in an event being organised at Redcross Bhawan”, informed Mr. Pradhan.
Ms. Shanti Bhoi, President , Mahila Shramajeebee Manch, Odisha explains that people from across the state, especially from the tribals dominated districts have been highlighting two demands that the communities have been repeating in their protests i.e. education and health. Therefore, we urge our Chief Minister to redress their grievances and order appropriate actions to ensure public education and health services reach to all.
