Odishi dance competition held to exhibit the local talents during the ensuing Republic Day

Report by Badal Tah; Rayagada, January 21: Rayagada as a district sharing its border with neighbouring state Andhra Pradesh has certainly an influence on the art and culture of it. Nevertheless, the Sanskruti Ladies Club has been pioneering its effort in conserving the local traditional initiatives of the district by synthesising the tradition and culture of adjacent districts of Odisha. Thus it has taken a lead role in instilling Odia culture and tradition in the budding youngsters like school students, their mothers and women in general.

To add colours to the ensuing republic day celebration at Rayagada, it has added a Odish Dance Tadka by indoctrinating its essence among the girls students of various schools of Rayagada. In this context, an Odishi dance competition was organised by the Club where three students namely Kumari Samruddhi Das, Kumari Anita Padhi, Kumari Sheetal Maharana were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. The selection committee was comprised of Sri Rabindra Patakhandal from Zilla Sambadika Sangha, DIPRO Sri Basanta Pradhan, Smt Sujata Madala from Sanskruti Club. The event was moderated by Prof Ritarani Mishra of Rayagada Women’s college. Sri Ajaya Rath and Suresh Mishra helped the organisers in making the event successful.
