Nupur Chowdhury gets the first Satya Mahapatra Fellowship, Sukanya Jena gets Radhanath Rath Fellowship

Dhenkanal: Ms Nupur Chowdhury, English Journalism student of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Dhenkanal has been selected to receive the first Satya Mahapatra scholarship. Hailing from Kolkata, Nupur will be honoured for her meritorious academic performance.
Sambalpur girl Sukanya Jena will be conferred Dr Radhanath Rath fellowship for the academic year 2016-17 for her meritorious performance in Odia Journalism course.
Both the students will be presented with a cash award of Rs 10,000 each and a citation at a ceremony on April 12 afternoon at the Institute’s premises. Well known journalist and CEO of Sankalp Television, Ashok Das will grace the occasion and deliver a lecture on ‘Reporting as a tool for development.’
At IIMC, Dhenkanal a yearly fellowship was instituted in 2002-3 in the name of Dr. Radhanath Rath, Editor Samaja by his son Prof. Nilakantha Rath for a meritorious student of Odia Journalism.
The fellowship for English Journalism has been instituted in 2017 with support from late Satya Mahapatra’s family. Satya Mohapatra has been a respected name in Odia media world as an erudite editor and litterateur.
It is the Institute’s endeavor to honour the memory of the great journalists, encourage merit in academics and encourage students to follow in their illustrious footsteps.
