Bhubaneswar: In a bid to recognise the growing importance of work being done by print, broadcast (television and radio) and online news services and honour media professionals for their outstanding contributions in these fields, Media@Change, a forum of, by and for media professionals in Odisha, has decided to give annual ‘Media Excellence Awards’. The first edition of the award ceremony will be held on 21st September in Bhubaneswar.
WHY THE AWARDS
The awards will make a humble attempt to recognise and appreciate pioneering work of media professionals who demonstrate a passionate commitment in advancing quality journalism and promoting free and fair flow of news and exchange of opinions. The idea is to encourage working journalists and media practitioners to continue being committed to high standards in their profession.
ROLE OF FORUM
Supported by an advisory board of eminent media professionals, PNV Foundation has facilitated formation of the forum, Media@Change, to help conduct the award ceremony every year. The forum also plans to pursue activities dedicated towards development of media in Odisha.
BOARD OF JURY MEMBERS
The Media Excellence Awards will be chosen by a jury comprising eminent media persons, academicians and distinguished citizens.
In case the jury finds no participant in a category found worthy of inclusion or there are no entries for a category, it may cancel the award category or alternatively decide to nominate media professionals for the category to maintain high standards of participation. The decision of the jury in this regard will be final and non-contestable. The forum will not entertain any queries in this regard. The jury may also change / modify / split / merge / increase or cancel award categories based on the number and quality of entries received in each category. Also, there could be one or more winners in each award category, depending on the discretion of the jury. The decision of the jury will be final and binding on all awardees.
Media professionals working in Odisha and/or belonging to Odisha affiliated with regional, national and international news organisation/company can apply. A media professional can apply individually or the organisation/company for which it works can also recommend her/his candidature. That apart, the jury will also have the discretion to nominate entries for different categories.
