Jio Odisha lends support to Swachhata Hi Sewa movement

 

Bhubaneswar: Lending support to the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ movement, which aims at generating greater public participation towards cleanliness, Reliance Jio staff across all 31 Jio Centres in Odisha along with state office took up the brooms and undertook cleaning the surrounding areas, schools, anganwadis, parks and other public places.

Jio has launched this week long cleanliness drive to inculcate the habit of cleanliness and promote active participation of individuals in the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ movement, launched last week by the Prime Minister.

The weeklong Swachhta Hi Seva cleanliness drive has been undertaken with active participation of its staff members and associates in the cleaning activities on streets, schools, parks and other public places in their respective areas. The cleaning staff at the respective centres were also felicitated on this occasion for their dedication to cleanliness.

The drive began in Odisha with Jio Centre, Cuttack undertaking cleanliness activity in and around the Bidanasi Primary School, yesterday afternoon, wherein a team of over 30 persons from Jio reached the school with brooms, bin bags and other supporting materials along with protective masks, gloves etc. While the school campus was cleaned and garbage collected and disposed safely, the team also cleaned the surroundings of the school and made use of bleaching powder at the small water deposits along the boundary wall and open spaces.

While the staff of Jio Centre Bhawanipatna carried out the cleanliness drive at an Anganwadi centre in Bahadurbagichapada of the town, Dhenkanal team conducted it near a park and the Talcher Jio team undertook extensive cleanliness drive at Talcher Railway Station with participation of the station manager and police. Similarly, Jio team cleaned polythene, plastic and other waste from the golden sea beach in Puri while creating awareness among the hawkers and tourists. The Swachhata Hi Seva abhiyan has already been conducted at Jio Centres at Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Barbil, Bhadrak, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhawanipatna, Dhenkanal, Baripada, Rajgangpur, Sundergarh, Sunabeda, Khurda, Jatni, Angul, Keonjhar, Kendrapada, Berhampur, Brajaraj Nagar, Jajpur, and some of the offices and Jio Centres have planned similar activities in their respective areas, tomorrow.

This campaign, which is a run-up to the fourth anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission, on October 2, 2018 is aimed at bringing together people from various quarters to bring about a positive change in the society.
It may be noted that World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that cleanliness drives can help save around three lakh lives and bring down cases of diarrhoea by over 30 per cent.
