Fourty students of NIT Rourkela attend the TEQIP sponsored Mitcas research programme

Rourkela: The forty selected students of the national institute of technology (NIT) Rourkela have gone to Canada to attend the student research mobility programme of a Globalink research internship with Mitcas. The students will spend 12 weeks in Canada and do research in their allotted projects. This research programme is completely funded by the technical education quality improvement programme (TEQIP-III) of NITR. The head of TEQIP of NITR, professor Chittaranjan Patra, says, ‘’ In order to promote research and development activities for we encourage our students to take such types of research work. Last year, we had sent around 20 students and this year we have sent 40 students. Mitcas has partnered with the ministry of human resource development and the world bank since 2015. I think the student will be benefitted from this programme and they will get lots of exposure,’’ explains the professor. The professor tells, ‘’The TEQIP focuses on the improving quality and equity in engineering institutions in focus states. Here at NITR, we have been organizing several workshops and research programmes under TEQIP. We believe in the all-round development of the student’’, adds professor Patra.
Mitacs is a national, not-for-profit organization that has designed and delivered research and training programs in Canada for 20 years. Working with 60 universities, 4 thousand companies, and both federal and provincial governments. The Mitcas Globalink Research Internship is a competitive initiative for international undergraduates of Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Mexico etc. Each year top-ranked applicants participate in a 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines from science, engineering and mathematics to humanities and social sciences.
