Bhubaneswar: Twenty six talented girls from 23 states will vie for the ‘KIIT Nanhipari Little Miss India’ crown at the grand finale of the event at KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar on December 29, 2019. The winner and two runners up will be crowned at a glittering presentation ceremony by Ms. Sumana Rao, Femina Miss India 2019; Ms. Shivani Jadhav, Miss Grand India 2019; Ms. Shreya Shankar, Miss India United Continents 2019; Ms. Qiao Qiao, Miss World, Quindang, Shandong, China 2017 and Jung Hye-Sun, South Korean famous Actress in the presence of delegates from South Korea.
The semi finalists for the grand finale were selected through auditions held in 24 prominent cities of India, which is reflective of the true national character of this one-of-its-kind beauty pageant. Spread over four months, the auditions attracted tremendous participation from teenage girls at each location with the combined footfall exceeding 5000. Besides exquisitely designed Swarovski crown, the winner get prizes worth Rs. 21 lakh, including fee waiver up to Rs. 18 lakh for studying in any discipline in KIIT Deemed to be University.
First and second runners up will get prizes worth Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 9.5 lakh, which include generous fee waivers in KIIT. In addition to top three winners, many other titles will be decided in the final round. These are: Miss Rapunzel (most beautiful hair), Miss Photogenic (best pose in photoshoot round), Miss Selfie (maximum likes on Facebook), Miss Fashion (best costume), Miss Whizkid (highest marks in quiz round), Miss Cinderella (best personality), Miss Urvasi (best talent), Miss Catwalk (best ramp walk), Miss Monalisa (most beautiful girl with most beautiful smile), and Miss Active (most active girl).
‘KIIT Nanhipari Little Miss India’ is a talent show for teenage girls between the age group of 13-16 years. It had a modest start in 2001 in a remote and small tribal town of Kendujhar District of Odisha. Patronized by eminent educationist and social activist Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar, it became a national event in 2004. In a short time-span of just 18 years since its inception, it has become a national event of repute, touted as the ‘Little Miss India’ competition.
“During my childhood, it was my dream to have my own crown. ‘KIIT Nanhipari’ gave wings to my dreams by giving me an opportunity to showcase my talent in front of a large audience. It increased my self confidence and my attitude towards life and goal”, says Ms. Yashika Singh from Delhi, First Runner Up of ‘KIIT Nanhipari’ 2018. After her success, Yashika got an opportunity to act in one of best theatres in Delhi. She was also selected to perform on International Yoga Day at Rajpath. It is the only contest of its kinds in the country known as the Pre Miss India or stepping stone to National and Global Beauty pageants. It has already nurtured many talents who have been successful in fashion, film and art industry.
“KIIT Nanhipari provided me a platform where I discovered the truth behind beauty pageants. I always thought that beauty pageants are all about being the most beautiful, but it’s actually not. You need to be pretty, confident, intelligent, smart and tough”, says Anira Khan, a past participant. KIIT Nanhipari provides a platform and opportunity to young women to showcase not only their physical appearance, but also their intellect, presence, style, glamour and charisma. The event takes pride in being a platform for empowering the girl child.
It will not be long before ‘KIIT Nanhipari’ can find herself on a pedestal to approach global fame and recognition, confident to face the next frontier of Miss India, Miss World or similar recognitions, pinning India as a prominent face on the world map.
