Agragamee organize a state level training programme for MGNREGS labour Group

Report by Lokanath Panda; Kashipur: Agragamee, organize a state level training cum workshop for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employmet Gurantee Act ( MGNREGA) labour group at Kashipur of Rayagada district on 5th and 6th October, in which MGNREGS Labour Group members and leaders of 10 backward districts like Malkanigiri, Nawarngpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Bolangir, Mayurhanj and Gajapati participate in the events. The groups shared their mixed experiences – both successes and failure in the MGNREGA

A discussion conducted on whether MGNREGS can prevent migration ? Some of the participants of Belpada block of Bolangir, Nuapada shared their experience that some of the villages they have create example by demanding MGNREGS works in their village and prevent migration and create resources for their village.. Some of the participants of Pokhari of Derakumpa block of Kandhamal shared that demand NREGS work and digging pond which they got employment and also help in the development of resource for their village.

Some of the participants shared that if the govt. take step to increase the MGNREGS labour wages, it will help them more. Some of the participants share due to manipulation, delay in payment, technical ignorance and difficulties, villagers take less interest to work under NREGS. Some of the participants complained that their job card remain in the custody of household of GRS / Sarpanch/ contractor.

In the inaugural sessions, Mr. Debabar Pradhan, BDO, Kashipur shared about the provisions of NREGS in different govt. line department. He shared that around 130 types of works has included in NREGS schemes.

Dr. Narendra Mishra, Expert, shared about scope and possibilities of MGNREGS, and also Social Audit in the MGNREGS works. Mr. Achyut Das, Director, Agragamee spoke that the major point for implementation of MGNREGA is to enhancement of livelihood security of household, asset rural creation and create rural assess, create livelihood resource base and restore environment. After sharing of the experience by participants, he spoke that facilitates implementation of schemes under MGNREGA, says, the demand of work under MGNREGA has not declined. Panchayat officials have to provide proper slips to people demanding work under MGNREGA, showing registration of their demand,
Mr. Mahindra Nath, Mr. Satrughna Naik, Mr. Monranjan Sahu, Mrs. Sumani Jhodia also sharing their experience on this occasion. Around 120 nos. of MRNREGS Labour Group job card holder, member of civil society participated in the 2day events.
