Aditya Birla Group Observes World Environment Day at Plant Sites

 

Bhubaneswar: The WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY was celebrated at plant sites of Aditya Birla Group at Aditya Aluminium Lapanga in Sambalpur and Baphlimali Mines and at the plant of Utkal Alumina International Limited at Tikiri in Rayagada as a part of awareness towards environment protection and sustainable development.

At Aditya Aluminium Lapanga, the former Chairman of Odisha Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) Dr M C Dash and the Director of IIM Sambalpur Dr M P Jaiswal graced the celebration and applauded the efforts of Aditya Aluminium towards environment protection in its periphery. The COO of Aditya Aluminium Mr Bibhu Mishra appealed to plant more and more trees and deliberated upon the company’s commitment towards environment protection. At last one cultural programme and the prize distribution were held. In this ceremony Mr Soubhagya Tripathy gave the welcome address and Mr Jagdish Patra extended vote of thanks.

Similarly at Utkal Alumina, on the eve of this noble day, a meeting was conducted highlighting burning environmental issues and its abatement such as greening of degraded lands, impact of polythene use, energy & water conservation, domestic waste management reduction in CO2 emission & global warming, degradation of forests and extinction of flora & fauna and adoption of environment friendly techniques. Mr. N. Nagesh- Unit Head & President, Mr. R. N. Mishra, AVP- EHS & other senior officials presented their valuable views on this occasion and encouraged the gathering to connect with the nature individually.

At both the locations, massive plantation was carried out by officials, employees, ladies and children in the plant premises, mines and township to add a green cover.
