Adani Foundation organised Mobile Veterinary Unit Programme

Dhamra: Apart from the Fishery and Agriculture, Milk and milk product business is one of the livelihood sources of inhabitants of Bhadrak. However, this has been neglected due to various reasons. Considering the fact, Adani Foundation with the technical guidance of District Veterinary Officer and Gram Panchayat of its Railway Corridor area has rolled out a Mobile Veterinary Unit service today at Jamujodi and Rajanagar Panchayat. The flag up ceremony of the MVU was graced by Ms. Jharana Biswal, Sarpanch – Jamujodi, Mr. Sanatan Barik, Sarpanch – Rajanagar and Dr. Rajesh Kumar Kuanr, District Veterinary Surgeon, Bhadrak in presence of other GP members.

The customized two wheeler equipped with medicine and vaccine will create awareness on livestock care and provide basic livestock health care services. The vehicle will cover all the livestock of 16 villages of these two Gram Panchayats in 3 months pilot project through one Veterinary experts and Assistant. Each Panchayat will provide 3 service points and the main point will be based at Panchayat office. The project will also include 24X7 mobile advice service and possible health care support from District Veterinary office, Bhadrak. Upon the success of the Pilot, the project will be scaled –up to 14 neighbouring GPs.

Appreciating this effort of Adani Foundation, the District Veterinary Surgeon expressed that, the vehicle will enable the villagers in accessing the basic care and treatment through the MVU with nominal contribution. It is hope that, the project will get its success as there is a need at the ground and during scale-up District Veterinary Office will extend all its possible support to make the project a sustainable one.
