Active participation of more and more women in political process emphasized

Bhubaneswar: “Active participation of more and more women in the political process can bring desirable change in social and economic situation” emphasized by speaker while speaking in an interface of elected women Panchayat representaives at Red Cross Bhawan Conference Hall, organized by People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC) and ALIBHA Federation of elected women panchayat representative in collaboration with The Hunger Project. The Meeting was attended by 124 participants including Elected Women Panchayat functionaries of Balianta and Bolgarh block of Khordha district. Welcome address was given by Anuradha Mohanty, Executive Director, PECUC and she also shared the purpose of this workshop. Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Secretary, PECUC presided over this interface meeting.
Inaugurating this interface meeting Dr. Arabinda Dhali, MLA, Jayadev, said that women panchayat functionaries should work as a change agent of the society. They are better manager of fund and they should work independently and should be aware about their responsibility. A society will develop and prosper if the women will come to the forefront and take the lead. Sj. Ananta Narayan Jena, MLA, Bhubaneswar said that the women EWRs should work for the development of their ward and also they should reach to people and work for them relentlessly. Women are not weak rather they are quite capable like their male counterpart. The ALIBHA Federation members welcomed the guest with a welcome song. Rasmita Patra, President, ALIBHA EWR Federation, Balianta and Babita Sahu, President, ALIBHA EWR Federation, Bolagarh, read memorandum containing issues like appointment of PEO in every panchayat, compulsory registration of birth and marriage in every panchayat, abolition of two child norm for panchayat election, construction of children park in every panchayat, water and light facilities for every panchayat, ambulance facility in all health centres etc. They presented this memorandum to both the MLAs. The MLA on the other hand promised to take up the issues in the. Among other Prof. Prabir Kumar Pattnaik, SOA National Institute of Law spoke about the role and responsibilities of EWRs and Ms. Ratna Dash, Treasurer PECUC also spoke on this occasion. Vote of thank was given by Upama Mohanty, Block Coordinator of PECUC. Mr. Prashant Kumar Mallick and Mr. Bamadev Jena ,Dr Sumitra Mohanty of PECUC facilitated the programme.
