9th Convocation of BPUT held in Rourkela

Rourkela: Convocation of any University is commencement of a journey towards building excellent careers. Today 65% of our population is below the age of 35 years. With this human resource India has the potential to become the world leader in the next decade, said Dr. Binay Kumar Das, Director Defense Research and Development organization, Chandipur, Odisha. He was addressing at the 9th Convocation of BPUT as its Chief Guest on Saturday last. “Chase your dream with crazy amount of passion and make India proud,” he said. A boxer is not defeated when he falls down in the ring, but only when he refuses to get up within 10 counts, he said and advised the passed out students to do whatever they love to do, but just ask how to make it cheaper, faster and better.

Vice chancellor Prof. C.R. Tripathy welcomed the gathering and rendered the printed speech of Prof. Ganeshilal Chancellor and Governor of Odisha in absentia. Prof. Lal missed the convocation as his flight could not take off from Bhubaneswar due to bad weather. With 150 affiliated institution and six constituent colleges. BPUT is progressing steadily by scaling new heights in its journey towards academic excellence, Prof. Tripathy said. Registrar BPUT, Himanshu Behera proposed the vote of thanks.

Er. Prabhakar Swain was conferred honorary degree of science while Mrs. Pranati Mishra along with Som Prasad Das was awarded the degree of philosophy (PhD). Special medals named after Bhubanananda Das, Arjun Bhuyan and Dilip Kumar Santra were presented. University gold medals to toppers of various subjects for the year 2017 and 2018 were also presented. Besides 52, 629 degrees in UG, PG and PhD in various disciplines have got the chancellors approval, Prof. Tripathy informed.
