Bhubaneswar: The Temple City today paid its rich tributes to the brave soldiers of India and especially the exceptional bravery of the Indian Air Force (IAF) as the air wing of the Indian Armed Forces dismantled the terror camps of Jaish-e-Mohammad inside the territory of Pak Occupied Kashmir.
While paying the rare honour to the heroics of IAF the Janpath in the city at today’s weekend street festival Patha Utsav (81st edition) visitors also took part at other activities and listened to melodious songs, storytelling sessions and performances, but all based on the story of IAF, Indian Armed Forces and Patriotism. A beautiful Rangoli art was created by Itishree Dixit and troupe. They made it with the theme on the brave act of IAF. Protrayal of special tribute to Wing Commander Abhinandan Vartaman.
BAKUL FOUNDATION
Bakul Foundation had a special curated section on the exploits of the Indian Air Force, including books on the Kargil War. It also included books that celebrated Indian heroism on Pakistani soil such as the novel “Calling Sehmat” on which the popular Alia Bhatt starring movie Raazi is based. There was special storytelling on the heroics of our Air Force personnel by Storytellers from Bakul Foundation starting with the story of Wing Commander Abhinandan himself by Saubhagya Beura.
Santosh, another Bakul volunteer told the story of Captain Kambampati Nachiketa Rao, who similar to Wing Commander Abhinandan, came into the limelight during the Kargil War when he was captured by Pakistani troops in Kashmir following ejection from his MiG-27 aircraft after his engine was hit by Pakistani Stinger missile while flying against infiltrator positions during the initial stages of Operation Safed Sagar. He was held in Pakistani custody as the first Indian prisoner of war of the conflict.
Indu Gupta Mahajan told the story of Operation Safed Sagar that was the code name assigned to the Indian Air Force’s strike to support the Ground troops during Kargil war. It was aimed to flush out Regular and Irregular troops of the Pakistani Army from vacated Indian Positions in the Kargil sector along the Line of Control.
STORYTELLING CORNER
Well-known storyteller from City Prachitara narrated the bravery of rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat at today’s Patha Utsav. She described how the brave son-of-the-soil fought single handedly and fooled Chinese Army for 3 days during Indo-China War in 1962. Children also told stories at the storytelling corner of Prachitara.
HEROICS THROUGH ART
DPR Artlife and Artecion.com paid their respect to our Bravehearts at the 81st Patha Utsav. Whille Artecion.com made a nice Rangoli art dedicated to IAF, DPR Art Life made a model of Mirage 2000 which played the most important role in the Air strike recently in POK, along with a live sketch of Wing commander Abhinandan whose bravery has left all of us awestruck , and with the message of peace and “no war”.
PECUC’S SPACE
Today Pathautsav children in the PECUC’s space saluted the
valour, courage and sacrifice of Indian Air Force. The children also hailed the outstanding
bravery and undaunted courage of our soldiers by singing and dancing on the patriotic songs
and arranging flowers. They also gave the message of world Peace. They played and
participated in art, quiz and various cultural programme in PECUC’s space-children corner.
These apart many organisations and groups also participated in the weekly event and paid their respect and saluted the IAF through their activities.
