71 st Independence Day celebrated at NTPC Talcher Kaniha

Kaniha: The 71st Independence Day was celebrated at NTPC Talcher Kaniha on 15th August 2017 with patriotic spirit. Shri Ram Kuber, Group General Manager (GGM) hoisted the national flag on this occasion. Shri Kuber in his address made a call to remember the contributions of freedom fighters for their contribution and sacrifices made for making our country independent.

“NTPC currently has installed capacity of 51,635 MW.NTPC standalone generation crossed 250 Billion units and its coal stations achieved a PLF of 78.6%. in FY17. NTPC commissioned its First wind turbine of 2 MW at Rojmal Wind Power Project (50 MW) in Gujarat, thereby marking its presence in five segments of power generation i.e. coal based, gas based, hydro, solar and now wind” said Kuber.

NTPC added 13,395 MW during 12th plan, exceeding the capacity addition target of 11,920 MW. 3,520 MW of new capacity was added in FY17 including 510 MW new solar capacity. NTPC became a 50,000+ MW company on March 31st, 2017. Has started coal production from its first mine at Pakri Barwadih.

Speaking on NTPC Kaniha in the current fiscal year i.e 2017-18 (From April 1 to August 13, 2017), the station generated 8230.9975 billion units with PLF of 84.68%.

Towards environment protection, the station has organized world environment day, vana mahastov etc during such programmes the station has conducted mass tree plantation in and around the station said Shri Kuber.

To encourage excellence in work, GGM, Talcher Kaniha in presence of Shri A K Tripathy ,GM (O&M) & other senior officials awarded 59 employees with the meritorious award, 4 power excel awards,manyavita award & employee of the year for their excellent performance were given.

DAV school (Boy’s group) won the award for Best Parade performance & where as Saraswati Shishu Mandir school the award for Best Cultural performance.

Representatives from unions, executive, associations, CISF personnel, school children, employees with their family members were present in large numbers to celebrate the day.
