Bhubaneswar: Ms. Sana Afrin of DAV Unit-8, Bhubaneswar (English Essay), Master D. Ashish Kumar from Binod Bihari High School –Jajpur (Odia Essay) and Ms. Bandita Mahanta from DPS, Nalco Nagar, Angul (Drawing) were the State Level winners of this year’s When I am 64 Contest, organized by HelpAge India.
In an unique move to spread awareness and sensitization among school children towards Senior Citizens, HelpAge India organized District and State Level Contest titled “When I am 64” for high school students. Students in 19 districts in Odisha participated in the contest. Children were given topics escalating their imagination to a situation where they would place themselves at the age of 64 and think what the life would be, what they can do for society at that age.
The vivid imaginations of children have been sketched very nicely in English Essay, Odia Essay and Drawings by the participating children.In the State Level Award function, the district toppers in the 3 catagories as well as the State level winners were felicitated by honorable guests :1. Director –Elementary Education Sri. Chudamani Seth, 2. Principal – Regional Institute of Education –Prof. P.C . Agrawal,3. Senior Journalist – Ms. Minati Singha, 4. State Head of HelpAge India –Ms. Bharati Chakra. The program was facilitated by State Program Manager – HelpAge India – Mr. Ranjay Ku. Das and Executive Resource Mobilization – HelpAge India – Ms. Sangeeta Pattanayak.
