232 Geographical Areas (GAs) covering 407 districts spread over 27 States/UTs have been authorized for the development of CGD networks

New Delhi : The Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Rameswar Teli in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today informed that Establishment of CNG Stations and providing PNG connections is part of the development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network and the same is carried out by the entities authorized by Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB). As on date, 232 Geographical Areas (GAs) covering 407 districts spread over 27 States/UTs have been authorized for the development of CGD networks.

As on date, there are 34,80,043 Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections and 795 CNG stations in Uttar Pradesh. Further, in order to increase the gas coverage in the country, PNGRB has launched the 11th CGD Bidding Round on 17.09.2021 wherein 65 GAs spread over 20 States/UTs and covering 208 districts have been included for development of CGD network. These include 4 GAs covering 7 districts (Deoria, Amroha, Sambhal (except area already authorized), Kasganj, Banda Chitrakoot and Mahoba districts) of Uttar Pradesh.
