Bhubaneswar : The 20th Anjali Festival was officially inaugurated on the 11th November, 2021 with the presence of honourable guests, namely Madam Arti Ahuja (Secretary Health and Family Welfare, GOO), Madam Nivedita Scudder (President of Swabhiman and Unnayan) and Mr. Sabyasachi Mishra (Indian film actor). 171 people from across the country attended the inauguration through the online platform. The Award winners for Anjali awards were announced, with Sri Swadhin Kumar and Ananta Kumar Nayak winning the Anjali Award for Bravery, Gulshan Kumar winning the Anjali Award for Service and Tapaswini Das receiving a special mention.
On 12th November, the Cartooning Workshop was held by Mr. Kamala Kanta Ratha (winner of 2018 Cartoonist of the Year award, Odisha Media Award, Bhubaneswar). More than 100 children participated to learn about the basics of cartooning. The same day, the first panel discussion of Dialogues on Disability was held. The discussion was around Disability and Religions of the World and there were six esteemed speakers from countries including India, USA and UK. The riveting discussion was aimed to empower people with disabilities and was attended by more than 70 participants.
On 13th November, all the children participants got a chance to be part of a celebrity interaction with the famous Odia film actor Sabyasachi Mishra, who is also Anjali’s Brand Ambassador. The same evening, a clowning workshop was held by Mr. Pravin Tulpule (Happy The Clown), a REX Karmaveer Chakra recipient and a TEDx speaker. 80 children participated and the workshop was a huge success.
On 14th November, there were two programs lined up. The classical dance competition had 43 were longlisted contestants out of which only 5 were shortlisted by the judge’s panel. The competition was judged by two renowned Odissi dance artists Madhusmita Mohanty and Rajashri Praharaj. The winning prize went to Reya Narayan Komarpant. The Team debate competition saw 5 groups going up against each other with Commodore (retired) Ajay Patnaik and Dr. Sruti Mohapatra (Founder and CEO of Swabhiman) on the judge’s panel. Ashlesha Sahoo and Suhani Swensa Jena from Mohter’s Public School bagged the first prize at the competition.
