Bhubaneswar: A Government-non-Government philanthropic collaboration can enhance the community access to service delivery and set path to sustainable development, opined Wipro chairman and renowned philanthropist Azim Premji.
He said this while delivering 15th Lecturer of Odisha Knowledge Hublecturer series here on Tuesday. Premji further added that there are a number of NGOs in Odisha who have commitment to serve and also have the ability to scale up their activities. Citing the example, he said that the Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiative (APPI) worked with around 120 non-profit NGOs in Odisha and their performances have been found satisfactory.
Responding to the queries raised from the audience, Premzi recommended that the youths of today need to be infused with values like honor and respect for the society. They have to inculcate the spirit of integrity, sublimity and concern for others before joining as professionals in NGO and philanthropic sector.
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi while introducing Premji said the APPI has been working very successfully with various State Governments in India. The APPI has also been supporting the Government of Odisha since last two years in the field of increasing of nutrition level among the people.
Chairman Odisha Skill Development Authority Subroto Bagchi presented OKH memento to Premji in commemoration of his visit to the State. Chief Secretary Padhi, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries of various departments, former Information Commissioner and civil society activist Jagadananda along with other senior officers, academicians from universities and senior activists from the NGO sector participated in the open house discussion after the lecturer.
