Vedanta Lanjigarh observed Independence Day with community and employees

Lanjigarh: Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh observed the 72nd Independence Day with much enthusiasm in presence of students, employees, partner agencies and community members. Mr. KA Chowdary, Chief Operation & Maintenance hoisted the national flag at plant premises in presence of Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, Head Security, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar – Director External Affairs & CTIO, Mr. Phillip Campbell – Director Technical, Mr. Anil Rai – Head Commercial and Mr. Sunil Singh, GM Projects along with other employees of the unit. Mr. KA Chowdary, addressing the employees, said that the company is focused on operational excellence and everyone at Vedanta Limited Lanjigarh is contributing their part to the organisation’s vision of nation building and socio-economic development of Odisha in particular.

At Lanjigarh, Vedanta, in conjunction with Lanjigarh Youth Club celebrated the Independence Day in presence of local school students, intellectuals, PRI members and media personnel. Hoisting the national flag, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar paid his respect to our martyrs and freedom fighters. In his address to the gathering, he emphasised on the holistic development of the local communities to trigger prosperity in the region. He reiterated the fact that with local community’s support, Vedanta has always worked for the development of the region and will continue to do so in the future. Mr. Bijit Kumar Nayak – Principal SSD High school, Ms. Mani Majhi – Sarpanch, Mrs Tulasi Naik – Lanjigarh block vice chairman, Mr. Sridhar Pesnia, President Lanjigarh Anchalik Vikas Parishad and MP Representative, Lanjigarh block, Mr. Binod Gaud – President, Lanjigarh youth club and Mr. Rajendra Pratap Singh Deo, President Harihar Sanskrutik Seva Samiti, Lanjigarh were among other dignitaries at the program.

In another event, DAV Vedanta international school, Lanjigarh celebrated the Independence Day wherein Mr. KA Chowdary and Mr. Phillip Campbell were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. Mrs Shukla Chakraborty, Principal of the school presided over the ceremony. The celebrations continued simultaneously in the Niyamgiri Vedanta Nagar (Vedanta R& R Colony) as well as at the Mid-Day Meal Centre, Vedanta Hospital, Land Loser Association office and the nearby Batelima village.

Mr Biraja Shankar Mund, GM-Maintenance, Mr. Sunil Singh – GM Projects, Ms. Harmeet Sehra – Chief Community development Officer, Dr Akshaya Sahoo- Chief Medical Officer, CSR and other plant employees were also present along with SHG members, Land Loser Association members, Anganwadi children during the programmes celebrated at different places.
