Vedanta celebrated Children’s Day at Lanjigarh

Lanjigarh: Vedanta’s Lanjigarh unit celebrated Children’s Day yesterday at Harekrushnapur village, near Lanjigarh. Mr. Mahendra Raut, Head HR, Vedanta Ltd., Lanjigarh was the Chief Guest for the programme, Mr. Harekrushna Joshi, Village Head, From Vedanta Lanjigarh Mr. Shivanand Mohanty – Head PR, Mrs. Harmeet Sehra – Head CSR, Mr. Manoj Satpathy – Head Legal, Head Master – Primary school, Harekrushnapur Mr. Sashibhusan Joshi and Mr. Balakar Sahu were also present to kick start the celebrations jointly with ward members of the village and community leaders of the village.
The celebrations involved the participation of more than 300 children, parents, childcare workers, ICDS workers and local youth. The participants put on a great show of dance, fancy dress competition, magic show, play on the Swatchh Bharat Mission and general knowledge competitions. The participants were awarded with prizes for different competitions.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raut said that children are the future of our nation. Quality education, better health care facilities and proper nurturing can lead us into an era of modern and cultured civilization in future. It is noteworthy that Vedanta has been implementing various CSR projects on children which include running of 36 child care centers, an English medium school – DAV Vedanta International School and supporting Government with mid-day meal kitchen in the region.
The programme was held in partnership with Sadhna Trust, coordinated by Srimukha Agasthy and Balakrushna Rath and concluded with vote of thanks by Laxmidhar Santoshroy. Intellectuals and opinion makers in the village appreciated the effort of Vedanta for its community development initiatives.
